The art of innovation and entrepreneurship with quantum systems

Our client, a startup at the cutting edge of technology and based in Western Switzerland, develops, manufactures and offers photonics and quantum solutions for next generation sensing, networking and computing. Its industrial photonic sensing solutions prevent asset failure before it happens in the most demanding environments, where standard electronic sensors do not work. It also builds quantum devices for high sensitivity measurements and distributed quantum computing infrastructures. Our client wishes in particular to develop solutions of interconnection between quantum computers based on quantum integrated circuits that bridge the gap between the world of microwave photons and optical photons. In order to develop this exciting technology, our client asked us to look for a

Senior Quantum Engineer (M/F)

This very interesting and forward-looking position will allow you to act within a small team of high-level specialists and to interact directly with the management. It is also an opportunity to contribute and participate in the success of this start-up supported by important organizations.

Main tasks
  • As the main quantum specialist of the R&D team, you will collaborate in all necessary development stages of advanced quantum devices
  • Provide practical and application solutions, while supporting those performing simulation, design and fabrication of highly miniaturized photonic devices and superconducting circuits, laser optical characterization and electronic (microwave) and cryogenic measurements
  • Contribute to the exploration of the architectural and information-theory possibilities enabled by such devices in collaboration with partners and clients
  • Participate in the definition of product testing and validation procedures
  • Participate in the definition of intellectual property (IP)
  • Accompany this start-up in its growth phase by ensuring the technological evolution of the products
Your profile
  • You have a PhD or Master in physics, engineering physics, quantum engineering, photonics, electrical engineering, a related field or equivalent experience
  • Your experience in developing (modeling/theory, design, process, control, characterization) multiple quantum devices in a multidisciplinary environment helps you to naturally converge towards the best solutions
  • You are experienced and familiar with quantum information and quantum systems
  • Your familiarity with the field of microwave engineering and/or optical measurement techniques in relation to the development of quantum devices allows you to choose the most appropriate design, measurement and test methods
  • You have experience in the control and characterization of quantum systems in a cryogenic environment
  • You are comfortable collaborating within a multidisciplinary team, including theoretical and experimental profiles
  • You appreciate and understand the start-up spirit and evolving environments
  • A practical and hands-on attitude allows you to do some of the practical tasks related to the small size of the team yourself
  • You are rigorous, methodical and autonomous, with a critical and analytical mind, and positive thinking
  • You demonstrate a strong capacity for adaptation and flexibility thanks to your listening and collaboration skills
