Energy Management Controls Engineer

In this exciting position you will collaborate closely with the Director of Energy. You will have the opportunity to bring key energy management development competences to this 15 people company, growing the company’s capabilities in energy and microgrid management systems, as well as in equipment controls, including heat pumps, electric vehicles, solar energy and storage systems.

Main tasks
  • Develop, implement and test real-time energy management control logic, deployed in industrial PC, embedded systems and cloud
  • Integrate communication protocols and control flow interfaces to on-site equipment including solar and battery inverters, heat pumps, electric vehicles
  • Define and maintain controls, register data point and parameters libraries
  • Define boundaries and help integrate the real-time control logic with the optimization and predictive Energy Management Systems layers. Prioritize and synchronize multiple control loops
  • Optimize algorithms and control loops in respect to equipment cycle times, computing CPU and memory
  • Document logic and algorithm, define functional review and test procedures
  • Collaborate with other hardware, data and software engineers
Your profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, automation, controls systems, or similar field
  • 3 years’ experience prototyping, deploying and maintaining reliable and scalable industrial control algorithms, in at least one of the fields of power generation, electro-mobility or HVAC 
  • Industry experience with communication protocols including Modbus RTU/TCP, OCPP, CAN bus 
  • Solid experience with flow-based, visual logic development tools such as Node-RED; working knowledge of javascript, C and C++ language
  • Basic Electrical or Mechanical engineering background to understand energy flows, battery charging characteristics, heat transfer fundamentals
  • Experience with time-series query, transformation, and relational database tools incl. SQL, influxDB
  • Fluent in French and in English; German is a plus
