his position is reporting to the Senior Vice President Industry.
The Global Product Manager has the full strategic and operational responsibility for LEM’s global Traction and High Precision business with an annual revenue of about CHF 50m. He/She is mainly responsible for the management of his/her Market segment with a focus on maximizing profitable revenue growth with the targeted customer groups in collaboration with R&D, Sales, Quality and Operations.
The role is a key position which manages a group of Regional Sales Managers and Key Account Managers across the world and steers the R&D developments related to his/her markets as well as the product portfolio for his/her markets. As a functional leader, he sets the strategy, the objectives and standards for the markets and is a key player and coach for other related functions.
Her/his main tasks will be:
Market strategy: Define the strategic business plan as well as the annual budget and set the overall short and long term strategy for the markets direction and execution in line with LEM’s Strategic Business Plan by mobilizing the sales and other managers as well as the cross-functional teams they lead. This includes on-going market research to understand the customer needs and a technology assessment within the context of the competitive landscape.
Market Development & Portfolio Management: Responsible for leading the effort to develop sustainable strategies for all applications and build a plan across the world to apply development efforts around each priority project/business. Responsible for monitoring customer requirements for both existing and future products and solutions to support the business. Actively steer R&D in developing products and solutions to market needs and provide the necessary specifications. Position and control the existing and future portfolio across the life cycle.
New business: Provide studies in the relevant markets to increase further the business and implement the findings across the organisation in line with the global strategy.
Margin Management: Maximize the margin in the markets with appropriate price positioning and cost reduction programs.
Segment Knowledge Internally: The position is responsible for the technical knowledge and it’s distribution within the company. This includes on-going market research and visits to understand the customer needs and to introduce new products as well as making the technical knowledge about applications available to the sales force and internal staff.
Engineering Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering,
MBA or degree in Management is a plus
5+ years experience in the fields of technical sales, market share analysis, customer relations
Experience working with R&D to drive solutions
Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time
Strong organizational and communication/influencing skills and skilled at working and leading in a matrix organization.
Solid understanding and experience of the Power Electronics World of Traction (locomotives, metros, Tram) with a strong grasp of market dynamics, competition as well as customer needs
Experience developing relationships with suppliers and technology partners
Welcomes a challenge and is able to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines
Will be required to work in a fast-paced and exciting environment
Clear demonstration of ability to operate in, and influence decisions in a complex, global international company, including change management
Self-starter and team player with strong result-orientation
