Product Development Manager

In this position, you will join the company’s management team and be in charge of the product development process from client request to production transfer. In this critical value-added function you will support the design of new motors and subsystems incorporating motors. Your team of development engineers will work in close collaboration with the industrialisation team. You will guarantee the compliance of the development process with the ISO 13845 requirements related to the design and development stage of medical devices.
Main responsibilities
  • Contribute actively to the company’s management team
  • Manage and supervise a team of development engineers
  • Act part-time as development engineer, translating client needs into technical specifications, performing calculations and simulations, designing CAO 3D models and detailed execution drawings, testing prototypes, interfacing with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Set-up and evaluate performance objectives for the team members
  • Set-up priorities and the team’s workplan, assign resources to projects
  • Set-up the budget and control the expenses
  • Supervise the development stages of new products and modifications of existing products taking care of manufacturing constraints (DFM)
  • Strengthen interactions with the sales, industrialisation and supply chain departments to boost even further the company agility
  • Review project progresses and documentation; guarantee the compliance with ISO 13495 standard
  • Encourage the development of innovative solutions and products
  • Perform continuous technology intelligence
  • Develop and manage EPF and HES relationships
Your profile
  • Engineering degree in microtechnics, micromechanics, mechanics, electronic or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the design and development of micromechanical devices, preferably in the MedTech industry, possibly in one or several of Electromag application sectors 
  • Expertise in micromechanical design and electromagnetic simulation softwares such as SolidWorks and Flux
  • Experience or knowledge of the design and production of brushless DC motors not mandatory, but a strong asset
  • Good knowledge and experience of the ISO 13485 standard
  • Proven experience in project and people management
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in product development in a private company, preferably in a small or midsize enterprise active in the MedTech sector
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written in English
  • Creative, open minded, focused on customer satisfaction, result-oriented, pragmatic, rigorous
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, sense of responsibility, team player
  • Flexible, capacity to follow multiple projects in parallel
  • English is a must, French useful, any additional language is an asset
