Our customer, an innovative start-up based at EPFL, is revolutionizing the field of mineral binders by starting from the problem of consolidating unstable soils and excavation or demolition waste. It has succeeded in cultivating solutions based on calcite-producing micro-organisms. Injecting this product into unstable soils stimulates a natural process that strengthens the soil. The results are impressive, and many Swiss and European civil engineering firms, geologists and railway companies are beginning to make use of this forward-looking and environmentally friendly technology. This start-up promises to grow significantly, first in Switzerland and then in Europe. Having successfully produced this soil-injectable liquid in laboratory batches of 1,000 liters, our customer is now scaling up the process in a new 400 m2 plant. This unit will be able to produce up to 40,000 liters per month of this product, destined for use on numerous construction sites. Head of Sales (m/f)
This exciting position will enable you to play a key role in the growth of this leading company which will transform the market and challenge the reliance on chemically produced binders by introducing its novel class of organic binder products. You will have the opportunity to participate in the results of this promising start-up and will work closely with the CEO and the management team.
Main tasks
- Identify and develop new markets in the civil engineering, construction, and concrete recycling sectors, as well as among builders and operators faced with the need to solidify soils and stabilize foundations for buildings, roads, and transport routes
- Personally implement the sales strategy by contacting key customers and demonstrating the competitive advantage of this product of the future, if necessary, in collaboration with the scientists behind this revolutionary product
- Monitor progress toward sales goals and provide regular reports on sales activities and results to management
- Adapt the sales structure to business growth, build and lead a team independently
- Participate in webinars, conferences, and summits to represent the company in the Swiss and international markets
- Develop in-depth knowledge of competitors, customers, and market dynamics to better demonstrate the superiority of this advanced solution in terms of soil consolidation capacity, sustainability, and highly competitive cost
- Contribute globally to the evolution of products and services by listening to customers and understanding their new needs, as well as liaising with the product team to help define the product roadmap
Your profile
- You are a sales manager who knows how to listen, get people to buy into your solutions and see a negotiation through to the end
- You are a civil engineer, or you have successful experience selling products to civil engineering or construction companies
- You are already familiar with the Swiss construction and civil engineering market and have personal contacts with the key players in this field
- You know how to conduct and implement strategies
- The quality of your listening skills and your sense of customer service allow you to build quality and long-lasting contacts with your clients
- You are result-oriented and a positive person
- You know how to develop and help your colleagues grow
- You have entrepreneurial experience and understand the challenges and opportunities of making a start-up grow
- From your base in Lausanne, you are willing to travel throughout Switzerland and sometimes Europe
- You have excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English and French; German would be an additional asset
